Frequently asked questions

How do I add my own games?

Tap the Import ROM tile in the Library and pick a .gba, .gb, .gbc or zipped game file from the Files app. Tinbox plays legally obtained game files; two free homebrew games come preinstalled so there is something to play right away.

Where are my games and saves stored?

Everything lives in plain folders you can see in the Files app under On My iPhone, then Tinbox: ROMs, Saves, States, Covers and more. Nothing is hidden and nothing is uploaded.

How do I back everything up?

Settings, then Library, then Back up saves and states. You can also copy the whole Tinbox folder out of the Files app any time.

Can I delete the included games?

Yes. Long-press a game in the Library and delete it like any other. They will not come back on their own.

How do I use save states, rewind and the Time Capsule?

While playing, press MENU to open the Quick Menu. Save and load states, rewind the last seconds of play, toggle fast-forward, or open the Time Capsule to scrub back through automatic snapshots of your session.

Does Tinbox collect any data?

No. There are no accounts, no ads and no analytics. The only network use is the optional box art download. Read the full privacy policy.

Do Bluetooth controllers work?

Yes. Pair any MFi or standard Bluetooth controller with your iPhone and it works in Tinbox, with remapping under Settings, then Controls.
